Three generations, slightly different needs
- E90 and E91 (2005–2012): seals and rubber parts wear with age. For an older car we look for a cheaper fix when it makes sense, such as a repaired or good used part.
- F30 and F31 (2012–2019): the best-known faults are the timing chain on N47 diesel and N20 petrol engines, and oil leaks.
- G20 and G21 (from 2019): a newer car where the warranty and service book matter. Servicing doesn't have to be done at a dealer.
What does a scheduled service include?
A basic service replaces the engine oil, oil filter and cabin filter, checks and tops up the fluids and resets the CBS service reminder.
A major service also replaces the brake fluid, air filter, spark plugs and fuel filter. Every service is updated in the digital service book.
330e plug-in hybrid
On top of the normal service, the 330e needs an eye on the hybrid system.

Do I keep the warranty on a new 3 Series if BemuFIX services it?
Yes. Under the EU block exemption rules, the warranty stays valid when the car is serviced to the manufacturer's schedule with quality parts. We record the service in the digital service book.
What is the best-known F30 fault?
One of the best known is timing chain wear on N47 diesel engines (e.g. 320d) and N20 petrol engines (e.g. 320i and 328i). The usual symptom is a rattling noise at start-up.
How much does a 3 Series service cost?
